As a military kid growing up all around this beautiful country one of the most prevailing rights of passage is the right to carry a gun. When I was growing up as a child the most important right of passage was learning to drive a car or getting your first job. I’ve seen our nation go from getting your driving license to getting your first gun among as a right of passage among our youth. More and more youth are making a decision to carry a gun, than to get a driver license and/or a job. It has become more impressive to have a gun, than a license to drive, This is the reason, I have decided to become apart of this organization Children Against Gun Violence. This organization is helping children say no to using a gun and the violence it comes with, to define who they are.

Diana Heeke

Hello Everyone,

I am Diana Heeke, a person who strongly believes in the power of helping others. Growing up in a small town in Kansas and then moving to Tucson, AZ, in 2009 has allowed me to experience different cultures and perspectives. In 2015-2016, I was fortunate to meet Mrs Jones and her family, who have inspired me in many ways. Being a mother to two wonderful children has taught me the value of empathy and compassion towards people of all ages. My current work with the elderly who have dementia has further strengthened my commitment to making a positive impact on people’s lives. I take pride in being able to listen to people and help them with their problems, big or small. I aim to be someone anyone can trust and turn to for anything. I believe that we can make the world a better place with an open mind and a willingness to help. If I don’t have the answers, I will do my best to find them and come back with the best possible solution.

Thank You,

Diana Heeke

Supporting people for the betterment of our community

This organization was first established in March of 2024. The death of Kymani’s Father was caused by gun violence. The heartache and pain were minimized by creating the organization children against gun violence. Engaging with others affected by some type of violent act makes it relatable and establishes community unity. As a community going forward and learning as we grow to respect human life will hopefully lead to the communion of love and understanding through the channels of communication rather than uncontrollable acts of violence.

Kymani High and Aaron Scott. Aaron Scott is the founder of his nonprofit organization, ” Good Brothers”. He is a pillar to the community of Tucson, he’s a mentor to young man. He has done great and mighty things throughout our community and continues to build a legacy in the city of Tucson, that benefits young men.

Active Gun Violence

Thinking about the times we live in now; it is imperative that we take the safety of our children young and old seriously.

School shootings, Black on Black crime, culture that has no respect for life, police brutality, adult gun owners who don’t store firearms safely and slack gun laws are all keys to adding to this active violence. You cannot turn on the television, social media and it is hard pressed to find a mother who has not had a loved one affected by gun violence. It is our children that suffer, it is our children killed and maimed.

My personal experience, my son was shot by an acquaintance. Who attempted to rob and carjack him. When my son refused, the young man shot him. My son was placed in a medically induced coma to save his life. My son’s life was spared by the grace of God. The bullet remains in his body as a crude reminder of what gun violence can and has the potential to do.

You and I can prevent Gun violence. We must be aware of the people we vote in office that make gun laws. Are they concerned about our children’s safety? Do they understand the ratio to the number of guns available on the street, to gun violence and murder in our communities?

Also, we must educate our children on conflict resolution, treating others as we want to be treated and teaching them social and moral character. A gun fight is not the solution. It is time we must take responsibility to save our Children against gun violence.
